Charles Liner Obituary
Charles L. Liner, 75, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, 7556 Old Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909 with Reverend Jeff Struecker and Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the church, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Liner was born February 27, 1940 in Waco, GA, son of the late Walker Liner and Mary Stewart Liner of Vance, AL. He retired from the Muscogee County School District where he was a teacher at Baker and Carver High Schools. He was also the tennis coach at Baker and Carver. Mr. Liner was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing tennis.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Hayes.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Stewart Liner of Vance, AL; his wife, Edwina Liner of Columbus, GA; son, Cary E. Liner (Pat) of Fortson, GA; daughter, Kimberly Liner Sheats of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Patrick Liner, Cade Liner, Cary Ann Liner, Allen Clegg, Destiny Clegg; great grandchildren, Maddie Green and Chyla Green; brothers, Curtis W. Liner (Annette) of Vance, AL, Jerry Liner (Mariam) of Tell City, IN; and Roger Liner of Vance, AL; and sister, Patsy Watkins (Joe) of Montgomery, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner's Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
