Deonn Rashod Carter, 31, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2016 at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th St. Columbus, GA 31904 with Bishop L.D. Skinner, Sr., Rev. Adrian Chester, and Pastor Chase Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be the Columbus Police Department Motor Squad. Honorary Pallbearers will include The Columbus Police Department, Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Muscogee County Sherriff's Department, Muscogee County Marshall's Department and the Columbus State University Police Department. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Deonn was born November 2, 1984 in Nuremburg, Germany son of Freddie A. Carter and Suzette Ragland. He worked at Piggly Wiggly as a bagger and stocker since 2003. Since 2015, he received Employee of the Month three times. He was a member of Young Life of Columbus and was in the Special Olympics during his younger life. Deonn was also a Deacon at Love Revolution Church. He was a friend to firefighters and police officers and to all who knew him.
Survivors include his mother, Suzette Ragland of Columbus, GA, father, Freddie Carter (Sonya) of Dayton Beach, FL, sister, Kimillia Carter and her children, Latavia, Lakayla, Cameron, and Emiyah, step-sister, Kiera, step-brother, Timothy, aunt, Sonya Jones and her children, Octavia Tyeshia (Terry), Corinthian, Jr. and Derunita all of Columbus, GA, aunt, Laurine Edmonds (Dennis) of Dallas, TX and their children, Torika and Markita, aunt, Maurine Lakey and her daughter, Keyana Zamore, her son, Zamore (Ashli Julien), uncle, Moses Ragland (Faye) and their children, Daa'jzia, Heaven, Inman, Jae'da, Moses and Kalia, three favorite uncles, Zamore Lakey all of Columbus, GA, Corinthian Jones, Sr. of North Carolina and Craig Carter of Columbus, GA, and a host of family members.
