Eugenia Cartagena Obituary
Eugenia S. Cartagena, 84, of Columbus, GA died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at 1PM Monday, December 19, 2016 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Cartagena was born October 8, 1932 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Roman Soto Rosario and Antonia Maldonado Rios. She worked part-time as a seamstress and full-time as an Army wife for 30+ years and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, CSM Antonio Cartagena Rodriguez of Columbus, GA; daughters, Noemi C. Smith (Phillip) of Fayetteville, GA and Lillian Santiago (Alfredo) of Augusta, GA; son, Noel Cartagena (Shirley) of Augusta, GA; brothers, Benjamin Maldonado Soto and Natividad Soto Maldonado Rios; sisters, Antonia Soto Maldonado and Ana Soto Rodriguez; 7 grandchildren, Kenneth Smith, Kevin Smith, Noel Cartagena, Noela Cartagena Scarano, Noel Soto Cartagena II, Nathan Santiago, and Laurie Santiago Reep; and 9 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Rd. Suite M Columbus, GA 31904.
