George Bellamy Obituary

MSGT (Ret.) George Robert Bellamy, 88, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his home.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
MSGT (Ret.) Bellamy was born September 4, 1928 in Longs, SC son of the late Robert and Claudia Cox Bellamy. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He loved the Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Falcons Football. He also enjoyed reading Zane Grey novels and listening to country music. Mr. Bellamy also loved spending time with his family and loved his time with his three grandchildren.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Arthur Harrelson, mother-in-law, Edna Harrelson, and siblings, John and Jack Bellamy Olin Bellamy, Ralph Bellamy and Ella Faye Ritter.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Harrelson Bellamy of Columbus, GA, children, Gloria Bellamy, Vivian Bellamy both of Columbus, GA and Melissa Whatley of Woodstock, GA, grandchildren, Leighton Whatley, Holden Whatley and Harper Whatley, brothers and sisters, Carlisle Bellamy (Laverne), Dott Bellamy (Maxine), Sonny Bellamy (Tammy) all of Loris, SC, Marshall Bellamy (Judy), Mary Evelyn Panecki all of Longs, SC, Emma Jaye Goodman of Kershaw, SC, brother-in-law, Howard Dale Ritter of Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
