Henry Grady Chambers, 88, of Columbus, GA, died Monday, April 27, 2015 at Muscogee Manor.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 30, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mr. Chambers was born September 29, 1926 in Sylvester, GA, son of the late Herbert Chambers and Mattie Veasey Chambers. He retired with 37 years as a supervisor at the Chloride Company. Mr. Chambers was a fine Christian man, who led by example for his children and family. He was a man of his word; someone you could count on and will be remembered as a good man.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Henry Ray Chambers, his brothers, James Chambers, Tyson Chambers, and Robert Chambers and his sisters, Eva Chambers Golden, Louise Chambers Ward, and Christine Chambers Clayton.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Clara Elizabeth Prestwood Chambers of Columbus, GA; son, Ronnie G. Chambers (Harriet) of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Betty Jean Weaver and Joann Gross (Gene) both of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Chambers of Houston, TX , Ashley Godfrey Segrave of Alpharetta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Ft. Benning Masonic Lodge, 2304 Ft. Benning Road Columbus, GA 31903.
