Imogene Koch Obituary

Imogene "Jean" Koch, 87, of Columbus, GA passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017.

She was born July 4, 1929 in Leachville, Arkansas to the late Noah and Virgie Kisner. Jean was married to Sergeant Major Kenneth Koch, Sr. who received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Army Commendation Award for his service during the Vietnam War.

She lived in her home in Columbus for 56 years, and was so grateful for the love and acceptance she found in her community. She had a long career as realtor and was thankful to the employers, co-workers and customers who made her work so rich and rewarding. Her hobbies included reading and sewing; she made beautiful Afghans by crochet, and she was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Koch, Sr., a son, Kenneth Koch, Jr., sisters; "Kaye" Rodgers and Virginia Austin, brothers; Noah Kisner, John R. Kisner and Franklin D. Kisner.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanie Karen Hyrne, and a son, Keven Phillip Koch and his wife, Teresa, sisters; "Penny" Johnson, Charlotte Marlow, and two brothers; Charles Kisner and Eric Kisner; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Jean leaves a host of family and friends who loved her dearly and greatly respected her. Columbus Hospice, her medical care team, the cancer community, neighbors and even kind strangers who helped her during her infirmity were most dear to her.

She left us quietly and privately and asks only that we remember her fondly.
