MSG (Ret) Kenneth Earl Wakefield, 67, of Cataula, GA died May 8, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2017 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Reverend Howard White and Reverend Lynn Meadows-White officiating. A private interment will be held on a later date. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
He retired from the US Army after 30 years of decorated service as a Master Sgt over recruiting. He was the former owner of WakeCo Ultrasonic Cleaning and was an active member of Pierce Chapel UMC, Midland, GA. He was a past Master of the Midland Masonic Lodge #144 and an active Mason for 25 plus years. Mr. Wakefield enjoyed helping others, loved his family, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Mr. Wakefield was born September 20, 1949 in Texarkana, AR the son of Earlouise Thornton Wakefield and Troy Kenneth Wakefield. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Richard David Wakefield.
He is survived by his mother of Columbus, GA, his loving wife of 20 years Mary Dee Hanson Wakefield of Cataula, GA, his four children, Kenneth Wakefield (Grace) of Huntsville, TX, Chad Wakefield of Huntsville, TX, Jennifer Lee (Brent) of Midland, GA and Julie Crisp of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Alex, Courtney, Blaine, Annie, Noah, Wil, Avery, and Madison, as well as three great-grandchildren.
