Leila Fadul Obituary

Leila Susan Fadul was born June 13, 1955 in Wurzburg, Germany, daughter of the late Col. William Fadul and Florence Hanson Fadul.

She was a graduate of Pacelli High School and attended Columbus State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science degree specializing in Reading Education. From 1977 to 1984, Leila taught in schools in Montezuma, Oglethorpe and Thomaston, Georgia. In 1994 Leila graduated Columbus Tech with an Associate degree in Accounting and was employed as Night Auditor for Days Inn until 2016.

Leila is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Steven Fadul. Survivors include her brother, William Fadul and his wife Maggie Meroney, sister Linda Kavanaugh, sister-in-law Theresa Fadul (Steven), three nieces Zoë Meroney, Claire Fadul and Erin Kavanaugh, great niece, Lauren Brown and great nephew Gavin Brown.

Among Leila's greatest joys in life was teaching and mentoring children to read. Leila was challenged with disabilities, but she was fiercely determined to lead an independent life. She set a lifelong example of courage and tenacity for all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to charities benefiting the hearing disabled, such as Hearing Charities of America or Hearing Loss Association of America.
