Linda Szabo Obituary
Linda Marie Szabo, 50, of Midland, Georgia died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Hospice of Columbus.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Georgia 31907 during which the family will receive friends.
Linda was born October 26, 1966 in Passaic, New Jersey, daughter of Mr. Richard M. and Mrs. Frances Szabo. She was a 1984 graduate of Spencer High School and then University of Georgia in 1988 with a Bachelor in Arts and Journalism. Upon graduation, Linda was appointed Executive Director of The March of Dimes for West Central Georgia. She was with The March of Dimes for 28 years. Linda raised millions of dollars for healthier babies in the Columbus and Chattahoochee Valley and left a wonderful legacy of philanthropy within the community. Memorable events include: Walk America, Walk through Fantasy in Lights, Chef's Auction, Ride to the Beach, Men in Labor, Lady Executives Night Out, Nate Odomes Football Camp, and Howard Ballard Fishing Tournament along with numerous golf tournaments.
Survivors include her parents, Richard and Frances Szabo of Midland, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Kenneth Ward of Midland, Georgia; brother and sister in law, Michael and Teresa Szabo of Columbus, Georgia; brother, Robert Szabo, of Columbus, Georgia; and nieces, Rachel and Kendel Ward, of Midland, Georgia.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The March of Dimes Foundation @ www.marchofdimes.org/giving/support-general.aspx.
