Maxine Edmondson Obituary

Maxine Austin Edmondson, 100, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Parkhill Cemetery 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. LeBron Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Maxine was born February 3, 1916 in Dale County, AL, the daughter of Birdie B. Austin and May Bell Dowling Austin. She was married to the late Arthur L. Edmondson in May, 1935 until his death in 1973. She retired from Tom's Foods after 28 years of employment. She was known as an excellent cook and baker. Her family and her faith were the priorities in her life. She was a long-time member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church and a member and past president of the Rebekah Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings, Aurita Ann Batchelor, Foy Austin, Burl Guy Austin and Billy Frank Austin. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Leon and son, Arthur Jerry Edmondson.

She is survived by her daughter, June Holder (James) and son, Terry Lamar Edmondson, siblings, Jean Parrish of Enterprise, AL and Myra Downs of Daleville, AL and grandchildren Mike Holder, Jenny Holder, Mark Edmondson (Gaynor) of Jacksonville, FL and Lorrie Lee (Scott) of Orange Park, FL and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, "adopted" children and friends.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Eastern Heights Baptist Church, 1342 17th St., Columbus GA, 31901.
