Rodney Anthony Obituary

Rodney Clark Anthony, 84, of Pine Mountain, GA died October 6, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, October 9, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Talbotton, GA with Reverend Joel Chapman officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Anthony was born on February 15, 1931 in Columbus, GA to the late Lewis Chester Anthony and Florence Marie Clark Anthony. He attended St. Elmo Elementary School, and graduated from Jordan High School. He was a Boy Scout and upon graduation he served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Gas Light Company of Columbus for 15 years as a draftsman on the natural gas installation plan for the city. Later he moved to Harris County and was the owner and operator of Anthony Feed & Seed Hardware Store in Whitesville until his retirement.

He was a member of Sherwood Presbyterian Church in Columbus, of which his mother was a charter member. He was a longtime member of the choir. In recent years he was member of the Men's Bible Study Group that met faithfully at the First Baptist Church in Pine Mountain.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Anthony and Richard Anthony.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosalyn Edwards Anthony, a Talbot County native, who taught school in Columbus. They would have celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary on December 31, 2015. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Anthony Warick, sisters-in -law, Florence Edwards Smith of Lilburn, GA and Mrs. Eugene ( Maudie) Anthony of Columbus, a special niece, Deborah Anthony Story of Opelika, AL, a special nephew, Charles Browne, III of Baltimore, MD and numerous other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
