Teresa Holland Obituary

Teresa Darlene Holland, 52, of Columbus, GA died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 18, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church 2915 14th Ave. Columbus, GA 31904 with Pastor Bryan Allison and Pastor Jon Williams officiating. Interment will follow to Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Teresa was born November 11, 1963 in Hawkinsville, GA daughter of Wanda S. Morace Holland of Columbus, GA and Elger H. Holland, Jr. of Upatoi, GA. She was a 1981 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School and graduated from Chattanooga's Tennessee Temple University in 1986 with a B.S. in Secondary Education. After teaching for several years at Grace Christian School in Columbus. Teresa worked four years as a copy editor at the Columbus Ledger Enquirer before returning to school (Columbus College) to earn a B.S. degree in Computer Science. She then worked at TSYS as a Computer Analyst/Programmer until the time of her death and was proud to be part of the TSYS team, happy to have work she enjoyed and coworkers who became friends as well. During her time at TSYS, Teresa returned to school and earned an M.S. degree in Information Technology and then worked part-time six years for Kaplan University, as an on-line instructor in software applications.

Teresa was raised in Baptist churches and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior on June 20, 1978, at a camp she attended with the Grace Baptist Church youth group. She was a longtime member of Grace and loved her church family and foremost her Lord.

Teresa was preceded in death by her two brothers, David and Michael Holland.

Other than her parents, she is survived by her step-mother, Joyce Cramer Holland, step-brothers, Scott Cramer (Robin), Grant Cramer (Amanda) and Chris Cramer (Amy), step-sisters, Donna Carter (Truman) and Dana Reynolds (Mike) all of Columbus, GA or the surrounding area, five nieces, six nephews, many cousins across the U.S., and special friends, the Stapletons and the Litzes.

Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Lifehouse orphanage in the Dominican Republic, run by missionaries Doug and Paula Hodges, care of Grace Baptist Church.
