Norbert Quick Obituary

Norbert Georg Quick, went home to be with our Lord, after a lengthy illness, on April 20, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on June 5, 1951, in  Mainz-Mombach, Germany, to William and Annelise Quick. Norbert's journey led him to a life of entrepreneurship, dedication, and joy which touched the lives of many around him.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2024 at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907.

Norbert's early years in Germany set the stage for a life characterized by tenacity and determination. He moved to the United States where he soon became a proud graduate of Kendrick High School's class of 1971. His educational experiences laid a strong foundation for what would become a remarkable career in business.

Following high school, Norbert's entrepreneurial spirit quickly shone through as he started his first business, Quick Auto Parts. His keen business acumen and relentless work ethic allowed him to build the company from the ground up, eventually selling it to pursue new ventures. Norbert's passion for the transportation industry led him to found Joe-Ryan Ent., Inc., a trucking business named affectionately after his two sons. Under his leadership, the company flourished, a testament to his hardworking nature and business intelligence.

Those who knew Norbert remember him as a man who dedicated a great deal of his life to his work. Despite his busy schedule, he found time for his personal interests, which painted the portrait of a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and adventures. In his younger years, Norbert was an avid motorcycle rider, feeling the freedom of the open road and the wind in his face. He was also a keen football watcher, following the sport with enthusiasm and spirit.

Norbert's love for the outdoors was evident in his boating pursuits. He relished the times he could escape onto the backwaters, navigating the tranquility of the waterscape and basking in the serenity it offered. Those moments of leisure were precious and reflected his ability to find balance in life. Intelligent and wise, Norbert was known for his thoughtful insights and sound advice. His wisdom extended beyond his business dealings and into the personal lives of those he encountered. Friends, family, and colleagues alike sought Norbert's guidance, knowing that he offered his support with the best of intentions.

Norbert's legacy is not only in the successful businesses he built but also in the love and wisdom he shared with his family. He was a pillar of strength, a source of inspiration, and a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and his presence sorely missed. Norbert is preceded in death by his sister Cora Quick Skipper, and nephew, William James Quick. He is survived by his parents, William and Annelise Quick, two sons Joseph Matthew "Matt" Quick, and Christopher "Chris" Ryan Quick; Diane Cail Quick, mother of his children; grandchildren, Caleb (Sydney) Frazier, Braydon M.
