Albert Daffinee Obituary

SSgt (Ret) Albert Harris Daffinee, 87, of Columbus, GA passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at his home.
A private ceremony will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga. 31907.
Mr. Daffinee was born Oct. 27, 1930 in Fairhaven, MA, son of late Manoah and Florence (Wade) Daffinee. Sgt. Albert Daffinee served our great country for 20 years in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany, Japan, The Korean War, France, Thailand and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Germany Medal, the Army of Occupation of Japan Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Good Conduct Medal with 4th Award, the Army Commendation Medal, Expert Driver's Badge with Bar, Sharpshooter's Badge for Rifle and Carbine and three Overseas Service Bars. He lived in Columbus, GA for the past 53 years. After retiring at Fort Benning in October 1972, he worked for Kinnett's Ice Cream Company, the W.C. Bradley Co., Char-Broil Division, City of Columbus as a Metra bus driver and for AFLAC insurance. He was a disabled veteran and joined the D.A.V. Muscogee Chapter No. 7 in 1984. He held every elected office in the Chapter and was Commander of the Chapter for many years. He was a Master Mason and a member of Mount Hermon Lodge 304, serving Master of the lodge 1997-1998. He also was a 32 Scottish Rite Mason of the Valley of Columbus since 1993. He was also a member of AL Sihah Temple in the temple's Provost Guard, Columbus, Unit and the Columbus-Ft. Benning Shrine Club.
Mr. Daffinee is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Yell Daffinee, parents, youngest son, Roger W. Daffinee, brothers - Richard W. Daffinee, Donald W. Daffinee, sister - Ruth E. Daffinee.
Survivors include his loving wife Lisa Lybrand, oldest son, Kenneth E. Daffinee (Janet); three grandchildren, Tabitha Torres (Kevin), Jerry Daffinee (Gena) and Ashlea Reynolds (Jonathan). Seven great grandchildren; brother - Robert H. Daffinee, sister - Martha J. Ruest and a special friend Phillip A. Hoffman.
