Allan McGlaun Obituary
Allan H. McGlaun, Sr, 97, of Hoover, AL, died October, October 18, 2017 at Grandview Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Mike Webb officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. McGlaun was born September 29, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Hardy McGlaun and Marcieta Peters McGlaun. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Tail Gunner during WWII. After leaving the Military was an Air Traffic Controller for the Columbus Metro Airport. When he retired from the Airport, he became a tree farmer. While living in Cusseta, he served as County Commissioner and Tax Accessor. He was a member of Cusseta United Methodist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Hope McGlaun; son, Brian L. McGlaun and brothers, Edmund McGlaun and Robert McGlaun.
Survivors include his sons, Allan H. McGlaun, Jr. (Rita) of Ellerslie, GA and Tommy "Tom" McGlaun of Indiana; daughter-in-law, Cookie McGlaun of Hoover, AL; 8 grandchildren, Scott McGlaun (Deborah), Kathy D'Abate (Greg), Stormy Schipansky, James McGlaun (Debbie), Aaron McGlaun, Terry McGlaun (Alyssa), Sarah Johnston (Zack) and Thomas Farmer (Megan); great-grandchildren, Lainey McGlaun, Isaac McGlaun, Justin Wright, Meghan Wood, Hunter McGlaun, Tanner McGlaun, Clayton Johnston, Kaylee Johnston and Alex Farmer and great-great-grandchildren, Blake Wright, Aiden Wright, Elaina Wright and Ryan McGlaun and several cherished nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Cusseta United Methodist Church, 364 Broad Street Cusseta, GA 31805.
