Ann Runyon Obituary
Ann C. Runyon, 96, of Columbus died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 11, 2018 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mrs. Runyon was born March 22, 1922 in Monaca, PA daughter of the late Donato and Antoinette D'Allesandro. She loved baking, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and retired as a sales associate with Kirvens Department Store.
While living in Monaca, PA., Mrs. Runyon was an ambassador of good will for the United States while living in Otia, Japan. Entertaining Japanese guests in her home was not a rare thing. Students from the university in Oita, eager to learn American customs and especially their cooking techniques, were frequent visitors in the Runyon home.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Runyon was preceded in death by her husband, CSM (Ret.) James L. Runyon, brothers, Sam D'Allesandro Pat D'Allesandro, Jim D'Allesandro sisters, Alice Boyle, Jean Endler and Helen Gantz.
Survivors include three sons, CSM Walter C. Runyon, Sr. (Shelia) of Spring Lake, NC, CWO4 Daniel James Runyon of Huntsville, AL, John P. Runyon (Kim) of Upatoi, GA, sisters, Rose Biller and Mary Cummings both of Monaca, PA, five grandchildren, Anna Runyon, John Runyon, Walt Runyon, Jr., Andrea Runyon Thomas and David Runyon, and 3 great grandchildren.
