Cleo Ruth Pittman Gafford, 80, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Don Wilhite and Pastor Bryan Walker officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Gafford was born July 21, 1939 in LaGrange, GA daughter of the late Wallace B. Pittman and Hettie Ruth Powers Pittman. She was a homemaker and a devoted member and Christian of Benning Hills Baptist Church. Mrs. Gafford was a loving wife to her husband of 60 years, and was a longtime care giver to family, friends and people in need. She loved her children very much and also loved and adored her grandchildren and her great-grandchild.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Pittman, Roger Pittman, Martha P. Preskitt, Mary P. Crenshaw and Linda P. Shellnut.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Thomas E. Gafford of Columbus, GA, daughter, Dawn G. Walker (Bryan) of Ft. Worth, TX, son, Thomas E. Gafford, Jr. (Deanna) of Columbus, GA, siblings, Wallace B. Pittman, Jr. (Catherine) of LaGrange, GA, Carol P. Meachum of Kennesaw, GA, Ilene P. McClure of Montgomery, AL, Irene P. Ketchum of LaGrange, GA and Jerry Pittman (Judy) of Jonesboro, GA, grandchildren, Jeremy Nathan Walker, Luke Andrew Walker (Bonnie), Joshua Thomas Gafford and Anna Elizabeth Gafford, and great-grandchild, Jedidiah Thomas Walker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Preferred Care Hospice 3 Bradley Park Ct. Columbus, GA 31904, American Cancer Society 233 12th St. #710 Columbus, GA 31901 or Benning Hills Baptist Church 8 Esquiline Dr. Columbus, GA 31903 in memory of Cleo R. Gafford.
