Isaac Steen Obituary

Isaac "Ike" Edward Steen, 85 of Columbus died Monday, August 21, 2017 at Columbus Hospice.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.

Mr. Steen was born on January 23, 1932 in Lone Pine, Mississippi. Son of the late William Claude and Winnie Anna Steen. Ike retired after twenty years of dedicated service in the U.S. Army, was a decorated military veteran, completing two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Korea. Joining sixty-one years ago, Ike was a constant presence, loyal brother, and Master Mason at Fort Benning Lodge #579.

Other than his parents, Ike was preceded in death by his brothers Dee and Melvin and his sister Lyda.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost sixty-five years, Elizabeth Ann Hawthorne Steen; brothers Buddy (Theresa) Steen and June Steen; sisters Jewel (Bobby) Pearson, Fannie (Doug) Townsend, and Annalou Steen; son Mike; daughter Teresa (Tom) Renfrow; Grandson Lance (Cassie) Renfrow; Granddaughter Heather Renfrow; and great-grandsons Luke and Nate Renfrow; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Ike was proud countryman, legendary story-teller, and avid gardener. His laughs, tales, and vegetables brought so many people joy, and he will be greatly missed.
