Junko Elliott Obituary

Junko Bando Elliott, 91, of Midland, GA died Monday, July 13, 2020 at Piedmont Regional Hospital in Columbus, GA.
A Private Graveside Service for family and invited friends will be held 10:00AM Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Ft.Benning National Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 social distancing will be in effect. A procession to Ft.Benning will be leaving the funeral home at 9:15 AM Tuesday morning for invited guests. Junko was born August 13, 1928 in Sapporo, Japan to the late Michinai Bando and Setsu Kamaishi Bando. She was accepted into the Sapporo Women's Medical School, but was diagnosed with tuberculosis and could not pass the physical test. She became an interrupter in Kyoto and she said she met her American King. She loved to shop, spend time with her friends and her Senior Aerobics Class. She loved her job at Shoney's where she received numerous awards for her 30 years of service. She always had a very strong work ethic and took pride in any job she had. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband King Elliott.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Elliott of Columbus, GA, Mimi Fountain of Columbus, GA, siblings Yumiko Willis (Frank) of Sacramento, CA, Kazuko Kobayashi of Japan, Mitsuko Ohata of Japan,Tadayoshi Bando of Japan, and grandson John King Fountain (Amber) of Columbus, GA.
