Kantaben Naranji Patel of Fortson, Ga died peacefully at home January 4, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born Kanta Nathubhai Patel in Nairobi, East Africa, on November 18, 1933. She was one of four children born to the late Nathubhai and Munchaben Patel. One brother survives her Navin Nathubhai Patel. Kantaben was married in 1949 to Naranjibhai Kalidasa Patel of PIsad, who pre-decease her in April 2009. They were married 60 years and had four children. Kantaben emigrated to Leicester, England with her family where she raised her children and was a house wife. In 1986 the family moved to Ontario, Canada where she continued to be a housewife while helping her oldest son and wife with their baby son. In 1994 Kantaben and her husband came to Columbus, Ga to live with their youngest son and his wife. Over the years she travelled to all her children's homes in England, Canada, and the US as well as India but settled in Columbus and eventually in Fortson, Ga in her later years.
Kantaben is survived by her children Kishore and Kiri (Patel) of Mississauga, Canada; Kirit and Meena (Jethwa) of London, England. Bhadravati (Patel) and Anil of Grove City, Ohio; and Nitin and Asha (Patel) of Fortson, Ga. Grand children: Leena, Manjoy, Jitesh, Jaymini, Felicia, Dimple, Vijay, and Amisha. Great grand children: Kai, Nyay, Gian, Jaiden, and Nikhil.
