Mary Mackel Obituary

Mary Sue Mackel, was called home by Jesus on Monday, April 9, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital at the age of eighty-one years old.

Mrs. Mackel was born on January 6, 1937, in Andalusia, Alabama. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Lowell Little, Sr. and Jewel Merrill Little. She was preceded in death by her only sister, Margaret Inez Warfield, and her four brothers, Joseph Lovell Little, Jr.; James Calvin Little; Harold Eugene Little; and her infant brother, Charles Edward Little.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Richard A. Mackel of Hamilton, Georgia; daughters, Stephanie Luiz (Tony) of Fortson, Georgia, Beverly Chalmers (Billy) of Kennesaw, Georgia, brother, Robert Little (Pat) of Andalusia, Alabama; and four granddaughters: Mackenzie Chalmers, Taylor Luiz, Carson Chalmers, and Sydney Luiz.

She graduated from Pleasant Home High School in Andalusia, Alabama and business college in Montgomery, Alabama. She worked in civil service at Maxwell Air Force Base and Eglin Air Force Base and retired as an administrative assistant from the Cobb County School System.

Sue loved spending time at the lake with family and friends; serving others through providing meals; visiting her family farm in Wing, Alabama, traveling in the RV across the United States and attending concerts. She was a godly person, with a servant's heart. She had an infectious personality and never met a stranger. She truly earned her nickname "Mama Sue" as she welcomed everyone into her family.
