Michael Bixler Obituary
Michael Leroy Bixler, 71, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Columbus Specialty Hospital.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Mike Knowles and Rev. David Lix officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Bixler was born June 30, 1946 in Lilbourn, MO, son of the late Ray and Velma Louise Haskins Bixler. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and later worked as the Communications Department Leaderman for the Muscogee County School District. Mr. Bixler was a member and a deacon at Waldrop Memorial Baptist Church and was a former member and deacon Emeritus at Southside Baptist Church. He enjoyed the beach and was a man whose smile was only surpassed by his generous heart.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Judith Golden Bixler of Columbus, GA, children, Brian Michael Bixler of Columbus, GA and Amanda Michelle Bixler of Alexandria, VA, grandchildren, Austin Thomas Michael Bixler of Columbus, GA and Hayden Jacob Morris of Dacula, GA, brother, Louis Ray Bixler (Wanda) of Canton, GA, brother-in-law, John Golden of Hamilton, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the nursing teams at St. Francis ICU and Columbus Specialty Hospital for their compassion, professionalism and care.
