Michael Lee Sanford 69, of Columbus, Georgia died Tuesday, September 01, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 09, 2020 at Bethesda Baptist Church 3830 GA Highway 85 Ellerslie, Ga. 31807 with Rev. David Helms officiating. Interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Mr. Sanford was born October 27, 1950 in Quinwood, West Virginia son of the late Harold Eugene and Ellen Ruth Boone Sanford. He retired from the U.S. Army as an E-7 and then went to work for the Columbus Police Department retiring as a patrol officer in 2007. Michael loved Alabama Football, the Atlanta Braves, listening to Elvis, and watching John Wayne and anything western. He never met an electrical device he could not fix. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and loved spending time with his family.
Other than his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathrine Amanda Clark, son, Michael Lee Sanford, Jr. and his sister Helen Amick.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Jordan Sanford; daughters, Margaret Ellen Jordan Sanford, Victoria Sanford, Michelle Renee’ Vasquez-Arias; son, Preston Michael James Sanford; brother, Eugene Sanford; sisters, Ellen Miller, Joyce Sanford, Betty Roberts, grandchildren, William Theodore McLanahan, John Luke Claridy, Erica Sanford and his loving and loyal dog “Camp”.
