Ozelee McCook Obituary
Ozelee "Oz" McCook, 86, of Box Springs, GA died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Columbus Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Greg Lawrence officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Oz was born November 28, 1931 in Ocilla, GA to the late Jim W. McCook and Mollie Barnes McCook. He retired from the U.S. Army after having served 21 years as Sergeant First Class. During his military career, he served two tours in the Korean Conflict and three tours in the Vietnam War. After retirement from the military, he worked in construction with Bob Carter and Columbus Cabinet Shop.
He loved to build, cook Sunday dinner for his family and friends, and loved his farm where he did all the work to keep it up. Oz also loved to ride his John Deere gator and care for his dogs and other animals. He was a member of the Masonic Midland Lodge.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley McCook and son, Andy McCook.
Survivors include his son, Randy McCook of Box Springs, GA, special friends, Kathy McCarley (Tim) of Box Springs, GA and their son, WL McCarley (Lauren) and Rusty Abernathy of Columbus, GA, and numerous other family and friends.
