Reid Scrivner Obituary

Reid C. Scrivner 66, of Cataula, Ga. died Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown.
A private service for family and close friends will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 18, 2020 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. Those who wish may view the services on FACEBOOK LIVE @ mcmullen funeral home and crematory.
Reid was born May 12, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia son of the late Leon Reid and Lavinia Ellen Henderson Scrivner. Reid was the 1972 graduate of Columbus High School and for the first 20 years of his career he was a self employed entrepreneur that included apartments, homes and vending machines thru out Georgia. Reid began his 2nd carrier in 2000 working for AFLAC where he was a faithful employee for 20 years until his retirement in May of 2020.
Reid grew up hunting and fishing with his dad and loved the outdoors especially spending time with his two German Sheppard's "Bear and Wooly Bear" and raising his chickens. He enjoyed his trips to North Carolina and staying in log cabins and gem mining. He loved his children and was proud of all their accomplishments. He was a avid stock trader and was a member of Silicon investors where he made many friends and was looking forward to getting back into day trading after his retirement. He was know by the trade name "Vendit". Reid loved living in Harris County, Ga. and the friendliness of everyone he met. You would always see him in his signature outfit "camo shorts and a black t-shirt". His favorite pastime was sitting on his back deck watching the creek and waiting on the magical time of the day when the sun would set behind the hill but still shinning on the top of the trees.
Other than his parents, Reid was preceded in death by his brother Tom Scrivner.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Robin, children, Chris Scrivner (Stephanie), Wren Scrivner Dickens (Dan), Shelton Scrivner (Caitlyn), sister, Lee Ellen Scrivner Bryan, grandchildren, Ethan, Evan. Emily, Eleanor, Walker, Kayden and Connor.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Harris County, Georgia 3938 Barnes Mill Road, Hamilton, Georgia 31811.
