William Chalkley Obituary

William Ross Chalkley, Jr. 91 of Columbus died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Midtown Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2016 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. John Burnett officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Chalkley was born August 04, 1925 in Columbus, Ga. son of the late William Ross Chalkley, Sr. and Elizabeth Slaughter Chalkley. He retired after 44 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and attended Hilton Terrace Baptist Church.
Mr. Chalkley was a avid Football and Baseball fan and was a member of the Civitan Club and was active in the Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth R. Chalkley, two daughters; Lisa Chalkley Beasley (David) of Leesburg, Fl., Leigh Anne Chalkley, Thompson (Rick) of Cataula, Ga., his twin sister; Betty Clefisch of Napa California, four grandchildren; Chris Beasley, Jason Beasley, Justin Beasley and Justin Thompson (Stephanie), one great-granchild; Rowan Thompson.
