Alicia Ann Wood, born on April 1, 1954, in Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, leaving behind a rich legacy of creativity, determination, and a profound impact on those who were fortunate to know her.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A visitation following the service will be held at the home of Jennifer and Philip Badcock. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Alicia embarked on a diverse and fulfilling career journey. Her early years were spent in retail, but her passion for education soon led her to teach merchandising at the high school level and warehousing at a vocational technical school. A dedicated learner herself, Alicia attended Jordan High School and Georgia Southwestern College where she won the titles of Miss Americus and Miss Columbus. The scholarship money that came with those titles enabled her to attend Auburn University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Clothing Textiles and Related Arts. Later in life, she pursued her passion for design, obtaining a second degree in Interior Design from Auburn University. She brought her expertise to two architectural firms and specialized in commercial design with Malone Office Environments.

Alicia's personality shone brightly throughout her life. Known for her quick wit and infectious laughter, she had an innate ability to brighten any room with her presence. A determined and goal-oriented individual, she applied her perfectionist tendencies to every aspect of her life, ensuring that her homes were always adorned with beauty. With a talent for curating beautiful objects and a keen sense of thriftiness, she filled her home with items that reflected her unique style and warmth. Over the years Alicia enjoyed the love and dedication of her dogs Jesse, Lizzie, Rory and Peyton was evident, and she often delighted in her gardening, finding joy in watching the birds at her feeder.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Wood (Anne), and her sisters, Belinda Nix (Ron) and Jennifer Badcock (Philip). Alicia cherished her role as an aunt to her nieces and nephews: Whitten Bryans, Drady Wood, Natalie Nix, Will Badcock, and Hendley Morton, as well as several great nieces and nephews who will forever remember her kind spirit and vibrant personality.

Alicia was preceded in death by her father, Joseph P. Wood, Jr., and her mother, Betty Alice Hendley Wood. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry forward her legacy of creativity, and laughter.

The family is grateful for the loving care given by the staff at Thrive, and Lakeisha Phillips and Annie Morgan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the animal charity of your choice.
