Anne Hinson Douglas was born on August 10th , 1928, in Knightdale, NC to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nathaniel Debnam. She passed away on August 15th , 2025, at Spring Harbor in Columbus, GA.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Parkhill Cemetery with the Rev. John Fugh officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga. 31907.

Anne was married to two great loves, the first, Gus Delacy Hinson of Orlando, FL (December14th , 1946) and the second, Charles Lewis Douglas, Jr. of Atlanta, GA (February 20th , 1988).

Anne was predeceased by her sister, Alta Debnam Sandling, brother, Charles Hubert Debnam, grandson, Asa Vernon Swift, Jr., granddaughter, Amber Lynne Douglas and son-in-law Calvin Augustus Evans.

Anne is survived by her children, Sherry Hinson Evans, Deborah Hinson Killgallon (Larry), Rebecca Hinson Swift (Asa), John Lewis Douglas (Becky), Charles Lee Douglas (Scotti), Leslie Douglas Hurst, Lynne Douglas Miller (Brad), and Margaret Douglas Hamilton (Joe). 30 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren knew her as “Anne-Mama”.

Anne enjoyed playing bridge and was good at it-no one doubted her sense of strategy and her steel-trap mind. As any recent visitor to the Sweet Pea wing of Spring Harbor could attest, Anne held more than a passing interest in floral design, and she was a fancier of ceramic birds. She was a tiger on the links and was an avid golfer in her day, most notably on the Green Island course with Gus and on any of the 36 holes of the Atlanta Athletic Club with Charlie. She was a lover of travel, especially if she was being driven to the destination while in the back seat of a new Cadillac. In earlier days that ride may have culminated in Athens, GA, home of her beloved Bulldogs, but she rarely missed a game from her living room. Anne was a member of St. Paul Church of Columbus, GA, the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church of Atlanta, GA, and lived as a resident of Spring Harbor in Columbus for the past 12 years.
