Anthony Mark Burns, 54, of Hamilton, Georgia passed away on March 21, 2026.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, March 27, 2026 at Hunter Road Baptist Church, 1803 Hunter Rd, Cataula, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2026 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The graveside service will follow at 5:00 PM in Tarrytown, Georgia.
Anthony was born on May 12, 1971 to James Mark Burns and Sara Elaine Williams Burns and grew up in Tarrytown, Georgia. Anthony was a Georgia Bulldog with two degrees from the University of Georgia in forest hydrology and agricultural engineering. In 1996, Anthony married Paige Kathleen Hayes Burns. He was a proud father to three sons - Walker, Mitchell, and Camden. The family began life together in Bogart, Georgia before moving to Hinesville, Georgia and then Hamilton, Georgia.
Anthony worked for the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission in Athens, Georgia before serving as an engineer and engineering supervisor for the Georgia Power Company in various locations for 26 years. Anthony was known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, faithful service to his church and community, and love for his family. He had a love for the outdoors which included hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, working outside, and building bluebird boxes.
In addition to his wife and sons in Hamilton, Georgia, he is also survived by his parents, Mark and Elaine Burns of Tarrytown, Georgia, his brother Christopher Burns (Carla) and family of Lakeland, Georgia, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
