Aubrey T Todd, affectionately known to many as “Butch,” passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at Bethany House. He was born on March 15, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia, where he would spend most of his life surrounded by family, friends, and a community that deeply respected him.

Aubrey’s early years in Columbus shaped him into the steadfast and warm-hearted individual he became. He graduated from Jordan High School as part of the Class of 1961 and later attended Chattahochee Valley Community College, always placing a strong value on learning and self-improvement. His commitment to service was evident early on, as he answered the call to serve his country, attaining the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class.

After returning to civilian life, Aubrey embarked on a distinguished career with the Columbus Fire and EMS. Rising through the ranks to become a Lieutenant, he held significant responsibilities as a Paramedic and played a vital role with the Community Ambulance Service. Aubrey was known for his dedication, bravery, and the compassion he brought to every emergency call. He relished telling stories about the fire department and the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues, always bringing levity to even the most challenging moments as a true jokester.

Aubrey’s devotion extended deeply into his personal life. He was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife, Linda Todd, with whom he shared many joyful years. The two shared a fondness for visiting casinos together and could often be found enjoying time on the water, fishing. Aubrey loved nothing more than spending quality time with his son, Benjamin Todd, and his step-daughter, Jenny Bowers. He cherished fishing trips with Benjamin, and tender moments with his granddaughter, Autumn Chairez. Family gatherings and outings — especially to Country's Barbeque — were among Aubrey’s happiest memories.

Aubrey’s legacy lives on through those he leaves behind: his beloved son, Benjamin Todd (Misty); cherished step-daughter, Jenny Bowers and life partner Denise Williams; loving brother, Van Todd; grandchildren Autumn Chairez(Jorge), Kaylee, Kannon, and Brody Wells; a great-grandchild, Bennett Chairez and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Linda Todd; his mother, Mary Allgood; his father, Thurston Todd; and his sister, Linda Miller.

Friends and family remember Aubrey as a jovial storyteller, always ready with a joke or an anecdote from his days in the fire department or the Navy. His enthusiasm for sharing tales about military ships inspired a love for history and tradition among those who listened. In his leisure moments, Aubrey enjoyed fishing, watching the Western Channel, cheering on Braves baseball and Georgia football, and simply savoring the company of those he loved.

Visitation for Aubrey T Todd will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location.

Aubrey will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his generous spirit, love for his family, and legacy of service endure in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
