Barbara Ann Strickland, 76, of Columbus, GA died Monday, January 2, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Parkhill Cemetery 4161Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Strickland was born November 29, 1940 in Benevolence, GA daughter of the late Flora Jones Barker. She was baptized at Gentian Baptist Church in Columbus. She worked in childcare for many years and retired from Publix here in Columbus.
Barbara loved to read, and reading to her great granddaughter, Ciley, was her favorite thing to do. She also loved to bird watch and be outdoors. Her little dog, Louie, was the joy of her life.
Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene T. Strickland, son, Michael Eugene Strickland and grandson, Charles Glenn Strickland.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat Haney (J.D.) of Columbus, GA, son, Glenn Strickland (Michelle) of Ellerslie, GA, brother, Robert Barker (Avis) of Chelsea, AL, grandchildren, Jessica Curley (Daniel) of Cataula, GA, Michael Strickland, Shannon Douglas Strickland, Sherman Strickland and Steven Strickland, and numerous great grandchildren.
