SFC (RET.) Barry Keith Rather died Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at South Columbus United Methodist Church, 1213 Benning Dr., Columbus, GA 31903, with Reverend Reggie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Barry was born August 4, 1964 in Decatur, AL, son of the late Jack Rather and Linda Morrow. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Henry.
Survivors include his sons, Darrelle Rather of Smith Station, Al and Marquise Cater of Decatur, Al; grandchildren, Destiny Rather and Darrelle Rather both of Columbus, GA, Audrianna Cater and Kemauri Cater both of Decatur, Al; siblings, Ruby Barton of Montgomery, AL, Bernard Rather of Decatur, AL, Erica Henry, Erina Henry and Fabrina Henry all of Birmingham, AL, Darrick Rather of Auburn, AL, Jack Rather of Decatur, AL; his ex-wife, Vanessa Rather of Hyattsville, MD; one great aunt, Emma Wilder of Huntsville, Al; one uncle, Ronnie Morrow of Decatur, AL; four aunts, Bobbie Wright, Jackie Morrow, Bonnie Watkins (Burl), Angela Bell (Otis) all of Decatur, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
