Betty Kaneaster, 87, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, January 07, 2021 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2021 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church with Dr. Kevin Calhoun and Rev. Craig Bowers officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be at Parkhill cemetery. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required during the funeral service and visitation.
Betty was born March 22, 1933 in Smith Station, AL to the late Woodie Hunter McLemore and Dallas Lafayette McLemore. She was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist church, a member of the Faithful Friends Sunday School, stayed active in Ministry work and she worked at Wynnbrook Preschool taking care of babies for many years. She created and organized Merry Makers, who entertained at local nursing homes monthly for over 20 years and she was also an active member of Joyful Servants. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Joseph B. Kaneaster, Cecil McLemore, Julia Cooper, Lucille Jackson, Dallas McLemore and Edith Carden.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Luker of Columbus, GA, sisters, Ellen Blocker of MS, Katie Applin (Ray) of Eufaula, AL, grandson, Andy Luker (Monica) of Columbus, GA, Great-grandson Noah Luker, many nieces, nephews and other family members.
