Betty Lynn Gary Smart, 78, born July 30, 1947, in Camilla, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at The Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia. 

Betty was a devoted homemaker embodying grace and commitment in every aspect of her life. A proud graduate of Jordan Vocational High School, class of 1965

Throughout her life, Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She was a steadfast wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose kind heart and giving spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Known for her unwavering support and boundless generosity, Betty's presence was a source of strength and comfort to her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Smart; her parents, Joseph Leslie Gary and Mazie Cranford Gary White her daughter, Leslie Sharon Smart; her sister, Debra Gary Doshier and sister-in-law, Vicki Gary.

Betty leaves behind a cherished legacy through her children, David Smart (Jessica) Jonathan Smart (Natalie) whose lives she greatly enriched. Her grandchildren, Carly Falcione (Joseph); Callen; Andrew; Row; Davis; Coulter; Easton and her great-grandchildren, Finley and Joey were the shining lights of her life, bringing her immense pride and happiness.

She is also survived by her loving siblings and their families: her brothers Joe Gary (Kathy) and Jimbo Gary; her sister Angela Gary Wills (Keith); as well as her brother-in-law Phillip Doshier. The bonds she shared with her family were profound and enduring.

Betty will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, generosity, and the deep love she held for her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have been touched by her kindness.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday March 18th at McMullen Funeral Home. Visitation at 10:00am with a service at 11:00am. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
