Beverly Garland, beloved wife, mother and dedicated educator, passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 72. Beverly’s life was marked by an enduring love for her family and a deep commitment to fostering learning in the lives of young children.

Born on May 28, 1954, Beverly brought light and warmth wherever she went. Throughout her 38 years of marriage to her devoted husband, Richard Garland, she built a foundation of love and partnership that stood as an inspiration to those around her. Together, they raised three children—Richard Adam Garland, Christopher Garland, and Laura Garland—imparting not only knowledge but a sense of integrity, kindness, and dedication. Beverly’s family was her greatest source of pride and joy. She also cherished the bonds shared with her extended family, including her uncle Joey Gray and her mother-in-law Rachel Woods.

Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the walls of her own home. Beverly was passionate about teaching young underprivileged children how to read at an early age, believing wholeheartedly in the power of education to transform lives. She leaves a legacy of countless students whose futures were shaped by her guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support. Her patience, compassion, and belief in the potential of every child made her a treasured mentor and friend to many.

In remembering Beverly, the family also honors those who preceded her in death: her grandmother, Louise Gray; her brother, Bruce Lee; and her mother-in-law, Erin Garland. Their memories were held close to Beverly’s heart throughout her life.

Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Beverly Garland are invited to pay their respects at the Visitation on August 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location.

As we gather to celebrate Beverly’s life, we remember a woman whose legacy endures in the hearts of her loved ones and in the minds of countless children whose paths she helped shape. Her memory will remain a guiding light and a source of comfort and inspiration for years to come. Beverly's wishes were to continue the outreach and education that the Easterseals do in this community.
