Patrick "Brian"
Stubbs
December 14, 1971 – May 4, 2026
Patrick “Brian” Stubbs, 54, of Columbus, GA, passed away on May 4 th , 2026. He was born on December 14 th , 1971, in Eastpoint, GA to Richard and Sarah Stubbs. He grew up in Douglasville, GA and went to Berry College where he graduated with a business degree in 1994, that then lead to his successful and meaningful career in the world of golf.
Brian dedicated his life to his profession. In 2002, Brian and his wife Catherine moved to Columbus, GA where Brian established himself as the Head Golf Professional at The Country Club of Columbus, that also included him serving as president of the Georgia PGA from 2012-2013. In 2016, Brian fully invested himself and his passion for collegiate golf as the Executive Director of the Haskins Foundation. His passion for collegiate golf ran deep. Brian was instrumental in elevating the Fred Haskins Award and the Annika Award, each presented to the top male and female collegiate golf player of the year, respectively. In 2025, Brian was named Georgia PGA Executive of the Year.
In addition to his dedication to his profession, he was deeply dedicated to his family. Brian married Catherine in 2002 in Marblehead, MA, his wife’s hometown. This resulted in multiple trips to New England as he loved the beauty it offered. His daughter, Hannah, was born in 2004 and his son Tyler, was born in 2008. The number of sporting events he attended for his children can not be counted. The number of times he loudly cheered from the bleachers during Hannah’s basketball games, and volleyball tournaments, or when he ran alongside Tyler with his cross country meets and supported Tyler through his scouting adventures is immeasurable. Brian was so involved in his children’s lives; he still often felt that he was not doing enough. In addition to his children, Brian completely supported his wife in her passions and was an amazing son to his parents. Some of Brian’s best memories were of the countless Georgia Tech football games that he attended with his parents as well as golf trips to either Ireland or Scotland with his father and others.
Brian is survived by his wife Catherine Stubbs, children Hannah and Tyler Stubbs, his mother Sarah Stubbs, his godmothers Linda Olive and Susan Walsh and lots of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 11th , 2026 at the First Baptist Church, Columbus, GA with a reception to follow at the Country Club of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Haskins Foundation for Brian Stubbs College Scholarship Fund 2610 Cherokee Ave. Columbus, Georgia 31906.
Brian’s memory will forever live on, not only in the world of golf, but also in the hearts and memories of all that crossed paths with him. He had such a special way of supporting and inspiring others. He will be deeply missed.
