Carol Smith Talbot, 79, of Columbus, GA passed away May 29, 2026, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 03, 2026 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Bill Purvis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Carol was born December 03, 1946, in Tupelo, MS, daughter of the late Linder Hays Smith and Thera Steele Smith. Carol spent numerous years serving on local, state and national boards of PTA. She worked diligently to help improve conditions for school age children. To ensure the comfort of children in transport to school, she was instrumental in having air conditioning added to school buses. 

Other than her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy Smith and David Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Talbot of Columbus, GA; daughters, Marci Talbot Hodges (Chuck) of Columbus, GA, Kelli Talbot Dyer of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Savannah Hodges of Columbus, GA, Grayson Dyer (Laney) of Columbus, GA, Nolton Dyer of Nashville, TN; great granddaughter, Charlotte Dyer of Columbus, GA; and her brother, Jim Smith (Chris) of Lawrenceville, GA.
