Carolyn Bowen Rogers, a cherished retired Special Education teacher and beloved member of the Columbus community, passed away on May 24, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on February 12, 1959, in Ft. Benning, Georgia, Carolyn lived a life filled with dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on those around her.

Carolyn’s educational journey was distinguished and expansive. She was a proud graduate of Baker High School, Columbus State University, the University of Georgia, and Troy University. Her pursuit of knowledge fueled a lifelong passion for education and service, which she carried into her professional career. As a Special Education teacher in the Taylor County School System, Carolyn’s joyful spirit and inspiring approach left an indelible mark on her students and colleagues. She was known for her ability to bring out the best in those she taught, filling classrooms with warmth and encouragement.

Beyond her professional life, Carolyn was a woman of many passions and generous heart. She delighted in shopping for treasures and found great joy in bringing smiles to the faces of others. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond the classroom as she volunteered with Feeding the Valley, the Special Olympics, and Relay for Life. As a member of the Community Warriors, Carolyn demonstrated her steadfast commitment to service and community engagement. Her presence was a source of joy and inspiration to everyone she met, including friends and acquaintances at rehab, where her spirit continued to uplift others.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Ryan Rodgers, who stood by her side with steadfast support and devotion. She was also cherished by her siblings: her brother Kenneth Howard Bowen and his wife Brenda; her sisters Mary Benes and her husband Mark, Donna Bowen Reyes, Cathy Tomas and her husband Michael, and Joanie Wynn and her husband Tim. While Carolyn’s journey ended too soon, she leaves behind a rich legacy in the hearts of her family and friends who continue to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas “Spanky” Bowen, her father Ernest Howard Bowen, and her mother Betty Jean Cholewinski Bowen, whose memories live on through the family she nurtured with love and kindness.

A visitation to honor and celebrate Carolyn’s remarkable life will be held on May 30, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
