Carroll George Welker, 75, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side Thursday, September 17, 2009.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Edgewood Presbyterian Church with Reverend Paul Coats officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Welker was born November 10, 1933 in Dresden, NY son of the late Erwin John Welker and Anna Augusta (Peggy) Nielson Welker. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a graduate of PennYan Academy and Alfred Tech and was a life member of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He worked in sales and marketing for General Mills and subsidiaries for over 32 years. He was a member and elder of Edgewood Presbyterian Church where he was in Lively Ones and the BASIC Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Klube Welker, daughter, Kimberly Wise and husband Phillip, Jr., grandchildren, Elizabeth Wise and Phillip Wise, III all of Columbus, brothers, Raymond Welker and wife, Hilda of Dresden, NY and Dale Welker and wife Pamela of Branchport, NY and sister Karen Payne and husband David of Penn Yan, NY and sister-in-law Martha Lattin and husband H. William of Horseheads, NY and brother-in-law Robert Klube and wife Barbara of Getzville, NY and thirteen nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Edgewood Presbyterian Church 3617 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907, Columbus Hospice 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 or a charity of your choice.
