Chana Gail Amos, born June 13, 1977, passed away on April 15, 2026, at her home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Her sudden departure marks the loss of a beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and dear friend to many.

Chana was born in Columbus, Georgia to Beverly Diane Amos and the late John Shelby Amos.

Chana was a devoted mother to her two daughters, as well as her bonus children which included her daughter’s friends. She was known to many as Mama Chana. She had a love for life and could often be caught dancing in the kitchen to Stevie Nicks. Chana was a loyal friend to many, especially her besties of 30 plus years Beth Redding, Holly Spears, Heather Gibson, and Heather Jester. She always had a way to make you laugh and offer words of encouragement when you most needed them. She lived by her belief that life is too short to not take a chance and too long to be unhappy, always stay true to yourself.

She leaves behind her daughters, Sophia Diane Mott and Abby Gail Mott. Her mother, Beverly Diane Amos, grandmother Julia Gail Staley affectionately known as Big Gail, brother, John William Amos (Olivia), nieces Shelby Elanna Amos and great nephew Skye Allen Daniell of Phenix City, Alabama, Mackenzie Nash Amos of Nashville, Tennessee, Olivia Rae Amos, nephews, Jackson Grant Bolton, Levi Garrett Bolton, John Robert “Beaux” Amos, and Joshua Whitehead of Columbus, Georgia, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Chana was preceded in death by her father John Shelby Amos, grandparents John Beverly Amos and Elena Diaz-Verson Amos.

Her life will be remembered with deep respect for her kindness, strength, and free-spirited nature that brought so much light and love to all who knew and loved her. Chana’s memory remains a lasting testament of grace and devotion to her family and friends.

Chana lived out her dream of moving back to New Smyrna Beach where a Celebration of Life service was held on the beach on Sunday, April 19, 2026. A private gathering will be held in Columbus on June 13, 2026.
