Chance Carlisle Miles, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, and devoted fiancé, passed away on April 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Born on July 10, 1989, Chance lived a life marked by hard work, genuine compassion, and a joyfulness that endeared him to all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2026 at The Church in the County 12289 Georgia 315, Cataula, GA 31804 according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Chance was a man who took tremendous pride in his work as the owner and operator of Miles Refrigeration, serving Columbus and the surrounding communities. Known affectionately as “the cooler guy,” he built a reputation for his skill, reliability, and willingness to help anyone in need. But who he was went far beyond his commitment to his craft, Chance had a heart for people, especially those going through hard times. Whether offering a listening ear or extending a helping hand to those less fortunate, Chance’s generosity came from a place of true sincerity. He often sought out conversations with those experiencing homelessness, offering both encouragement and financial support, motivated not by recognition but by a heartfelt belief in the inherent dignity of all people.

Family was everything to Chance. He loved being together, especially at family gatherings where he could usually be found at the “kids’ table”because anyone who knew Chance knew he was just a big kid at heart. His playful spirit and quick wit brought constant laughter to everyone around him. Chance had a natural gift for humor. He was truly hilarious, and he had a way of making everyone laugh, no matter the moment. He shared a deep and loving bond with his fiancé, Berkley Maddox, and treasured the life they were building together, whether traveling to concerts or simply enjoying quiet moments side by side.

Chance’s passions extended beyond work and family. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, he began playing at a young age and formed lasting friendships with teammates he considered brothers, and their families became his family. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, interests he shared with his father and grandfather from childhood. Whether searching for a big buck or kayaking the river in pursuit of striper, he found peace and happiness in nature. He was a devoted Alabama fan and a passionate fan of Star Wars and Jurassic Park, enjoying each new release and spending spare time playing Star Wars video games. Many of these interests were shared with Berkley, reflecting a joyful and deeply connected partnership.

Chance graduated from Harris County High School in 2008 and continued his education with determination. He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science from CVCC, pursued additional studies in that field, and later obtained a diploma in HVAC. While these accomplishments built the foundation for his career, what truly set Chance apart was his dedication to personal growth. He was an avid reader of motivational books, he immersed himself in self-improvement content, and often journaled about becoming a better person. In a Facebook post from September 2025, Chance wrote, “If I had to choose one thing I would like to be remembered for, it would be that I was a good friend to the people who I care about.” This humble sentiment perfectly encapsulated the heart of the man he was.

Chance’s proudest accomplishments included owning his own business, being the best son and brother he could be, and finally finding the love of his life. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and an infectious spirit that made every memory with him a treasured one.

Chance is preceded in death by his father, Russell Carlisle Miles, and his grandparents, Richard Carlisle Miles and Betty Davis Miles.

Chance is survived by his loving mother, Tanya Rose Miles; his devoted fiancé, Berkley Maddox; his sisters Lyndsee Miles and Baylee Miles; his brother-in-law, Jonathan Knowles; his stepmother, Linda Miles; his grandparents, Eva Sue Rose and Joseph “Bubba” Rose; his many aunts and uncles that he adored, especially his aunt, Sharon Miles, who played a significant role in his life, and his uncle, Mark Rose whom he deeply admired, along with two men who became cherished mentors to him after the loss of his father, Jeff Pritchard and JC Cotton; as well as numerous beloved cousins and dear friends. All who knew Chance will forever hold dear the warmth, laughter, and light he brought into their lives.

Chance Carlisle Miles lived fully, loved deeply, and left the world better for having been in it. The world feels a lot quieter without him in it, but what he gave to the people who knew him will never be lost. His memory will remain a lasting blessing and a reminder of the power of kindness, humor, and heart.
