Charles Walter Martin

Charles "Charlie" Walter Martin, 77, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Martin was born February 24, 1940 in Phenix City, AL son of the late Charles Huston Martin and Etta Jannette Henderson Booth. He retired from the Civil Service and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a Mason and a Shriner where he was very active in raising money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He was also an avid Alabama fan.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Rossar Martin and brother, Richard Martin.
Survivors include his brother, Delmar Martin (Agnes) of Phenix City, AL, sisters, Sybel Hatfield of Virginia Beach, VA, Gloria Wade (William) of Cumming, GA and Rhonda Lunsford of Shady Dale, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 or Columbus Hospice 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 www.columbushospice.com.
