Charles Frederick Rinn, Sr. 75 of Columbus, Ga. died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2018 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bud Rupel, Rev. Paul Thomas and Rev. Bryant Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Charlie was born December 10, 1942 in Fulton County, Ga. son of the late Howard Louis and Frances Fritz Rinn. He grew up in Carrollton, Ga. was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1960. Charlie then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 1965, and in 1972 he opened Rinn's Pharmacy in Buena Vista, Ga. Upon graduating from the University of Georgia, he became a member of the Hartman Fund, the Bulldog Alumni Association, and the University of Georgia Presidents Club. For 40 years, he ran the drugstore and made many friends and memories in Buena Vista. In 2017, Charles received his 50 year Independent Pharmacy Award from the Georgia Pharmaceutical Association. When he wasn't at the drug store, Charlie was either at a Georgia Football game, at the beach with his family, or looking for new business opportunities or adventures. Charlie loved buying and selling collectibles and even collecting antiques. His friends and family will remember him as a good friend and always had a good joke to tell.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hammond Rinn, children, Cathe Richards of Dalton, Ga., Suzanne Batchelor (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, Al., Charles "Bo" Rinn, Jr. (Alissa) of Baldwinsville, NY., Carole Lyons (John) of Birmingham, Al., Christy Townsend of Boulder, Co., Patrick Rinn of Honolulu, HI., and Stephanie Amanda Rinn of Columbus, Ga., sister, Barbara Rinn Wood (Ken) of Canal Winchester, OH., 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew and 5 great-nieces.
