SFC (Ret.) Clyde Miller, Jr., 85, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. A private family interment will be held at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
SFC (Ret.) Miller, Jr. was born May 25, 1932 in Toledo, OH son of the late Clyde Miller, Sr. and Violet Lillian Smith Miller. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years as Sergeant First Class having served in the Korean Conflict and two tours in the Vietnam War. He later worked as a Mechanic for Montgomery Ward.
He volunteered with the Columbus Police Department at the firing range and was a Baptist by faith. SFC (Ret.) Miller, Jr. loved to deep sea fish and loved his family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Miller.
Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Johnson (Johnny) all of Columbus, GA, son, Robert D. Miller (Cheryl) of San Diego, CA, 4 grandchildren, Mike Johnson, Carrie Johnson, Ann Marie Miller and Stephanie Miller, and 7 great grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Haley, Kamryn, Caden, Colt and Cambrie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Columbus Police Department 510 10th St. Columbus, GA 31901.
