CSM (Retired) Willie Wayne Snow of Phenix City, AL transitioned to his heavenly home Thursday, November 5, 2020 surrounded by loved ones.
A military graveside service will be held in his honor on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 10:30 AM. It will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery facilitated by McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA, 31907. The service will be Live Streamed also in keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19; face coverings and social distancing will be required during the graveside service.
Willie was born June 14,1943 in Lubbock, Texas to the late Willie O. Snow and Inez Schmidt. He was a Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army with nearly 23 years of service. Willie served in the 82nd Airborne and deployed to the Dominican Republic as well as having served two tours in Vietnam. He retired in 1983 as the Commandant of the NCO Academy at Fort Benning, GA. Upon retirement, he was President of AA Victory Auto Sales in Columbus, GA for 25 years. Willie was a proud member of many Ranger Organizations, 173d, 101st and 82nd Airborne associations and served as President of the Worldwide Army Rangers, Vice-President and Governor Emeritus. He was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2016. He was a member of River of Life Church, Phenix City, AL.
Willie had a passion for golf and adventure. He will be remembered for his contagious smile that would light up a room. He had an amazing gift in making everyone he came in contact with feel very special and valued. He loved people and never met a stranger. Willie was a mentor and father figure to many. His love for his family and friends will be treasured in our hearts forever.
Willie’s survivors include his beloved wife Darlene of 28 years, his two daughters, Cheryl Davis (Terry) and Darlene Sibold; grandchildren Melissa Coreg (Eric), Rodney Weatherholtz (Nichole), TJ Davis (Mckenzie), and Alicia Davis, as well as many beautiful great grand- children. Close to him were his niece Mandee Ogden (Eric), Max Myers (Jane Ann), Wendi Doblin (Jason), Kelli Tamor (Chris), Mitchell Myers, Megan Vazquez(Austin) and many special great nieces and nephews. He is survived by sisters Tonna Snook(Ronald) and her children, Michael (Joy), Denise Krebs (Jim), Wendi Zechman (Scott), and sister Sonjia Kurzepa and her son, TC Kurzepa, and nephew Troy Kline, son of decease sister Judi Kline.
