Dan Pope

Dan Pope, 79, of Fortson, GA passed away September 15, 2025, peacefully, after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 20, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the services.

Dan was born August 20, 1946 at Millers Crossroad in Elba, AL (Coffee County) to the late Gilford Melvin Pope and Minnie Pearl Hutto Pope. He retired, after 32 years, as a route salesman for Colonial Bread Company. Retirement didn't last long for him. He decided to go back to barbering and joined The Barber Pole, where he worked for 18 years and made many lifelong friends. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved his family more than anything in the world. He loved to have family over for cookouts, where he loved to grill his famous hamburgers and make his delicious potato salad. He adored his grandchildren! He always enjoyed going to their special school events, ballgames, and concerts. He also enjoyed having them spend the night on weekends and would cook them a big breakfast on Sunday mornings. His favorite things, besides his family, were Alabama Football, Coffee and Cheetos.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Fiquett Pope and Charlotte McDaniel Pope, son: Tommy Darrell Pope, granddaughter: Jayden Stone, brothers: Melvin Pope, Ben Pope, Paul Pope, Mark Pope, and sisters:Jerrie Davis, Sue Poss and Polly Ann Pope.

Survivors include his daughter: Dannell Fogal (James) of Auburn, AL, son: Patrick Pope (Lois) of Cataula, GA, step-sons: Ricky Stone (Alissa) of Midland, GA and Jason Stone (Carmen) of Columbus, sister: Janet Childs (Daniel) of Cleveland, TN, sister-in-laws: Shelby Pope of Bonifay, FL, Brenda Fiquett of Columbus, GA and Brenda Smith (Bo) of Milton, FL, brother-in-laws: Morris Fiquett of Columbus, GA, Glenn McDaniel (Melinda) of Columbus, GA, granddaughters: Khelsi Stone, Abby Stone, Kennedy Stone, Autumn Stone and Olivia Pope, grandsons: Connor Fogal, Tucker Stone, Logan Fogal, Adam Pope and Luke Pope and 3 great-grandchildren.
