Darlene was a beautiful, sweet soul, a beloved daughter, a devoted and cherished sister, and a treasured friend to many. She loved her family and friends, and they returned her love many times over. Darlene was born January 3, 1960, in Marietta, Georgia. Born into a military family, she moved many times with her family in the United States and Germany. When her father retired from the military, Columbus Georgia became her home, and she spent the rest of her life here. Darlene graduated from Baker High School and attended college at Columbus Technical School. She was a dedicated employee for Aflac (American Family Life Assurance Company) and served in several capacities to include, executive administrative assistant, Corporate Secretary administrative assistant and Claims processor. Darlene was immensely proud of her years of service and retired after working there for 42 ½ years. Whenever she or anyone talked about her length of service, she made sure to include the ½ years as well. She was also a member of the Aflac Pioneers.

Darlene had several passions during her lifetime. Her family always came first, she loved them and was devoted to them. Other passions include antiquing, visiting all the shops for a “one of a kind” find, collecting unique angel and Madonna and Child figurines that were made all over the world. She also loved to find unique crucifixes and had quite a collection. She had a fabulous eye for decorating and loved to decorate her home during all the holidays. She absolutely enjoyed watching her soap operas, beginning with All My Children and One Life to live (both which eventually stopped broadcasting) and The Young and The Restless. She knew all the story lines and would talk your ears off if you were also a soap opera fan.

Darlene was proceeded in death by her parents, her father, Daniel A. Spradley and her mother, Angela Spradley, her Aunt Ann Campbell, Uncle Gene Campbell, cousins Peter Klaus and Deloris (Delo) Morris. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her brother, Dennis Spradley and sister-in-law Chris, Dacula Georgia, , sister Shirley Spradley, Columbus Georgia, her Aunt Rosemarie and Uncle John Kucey, Oceanside California, her cousin Laura Dougan and husband Mike, Castle Rock Colorado and her cousins in Germany, Christine Bennek, Marga Bennek, Erika Bennek and Pascal Bennek and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition, she leaves behind her beloved furry member of the family, her service dog, Jack.
