David Curtis Mock 86, of Hamilton, Ga. died Wednesday, May 07, 2014 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, May 09, 2014 at River of Life Church of God 8060 U.S. Hwy. 27 Hamilton Ga. 31811 with Pastor Dan Rogers officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mr. Mock was born September 15, 1927 in Bainbridge, Ga. son of the late Claude and Lessie Thursby Mock. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was formerly employed with United Cities Gas Company and was the founder and owner of Living Well Fitness Center. He also served as a bailiff for Muscogee County Courts for twenty-two years. He was a devoted Christian a member of River of Life Church of God a former member of Edgewood United Methodist Church and he was an affiliate member of Gulf View United Methodist Church in Panama City Beach, Fl. Mr. Mock served many positions in the Methodist church to include Past President of the Methodist Men of Muscogee County. He served 16 years on the Georgia Board Laity of Missions and for over 60 years, he was a member of the Masonic Order of Georgia.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Ruth Mock.
Survivors include his wife , Connie Carver Mock of Hamilton, GA; son, David Mock (Nancy) of Brooksville, FL; two daughters, Marilyn Ruta (Ed) of Columbus, GA and Merriellen Thomas (Randy) of Fortson, GA; step-daughters, Pat Kelley (Bruce) of Midland, GA and Bridgett Harris of Cataula, GA ; step-sons, Rick McKnight (Marquette) and Brian McKnight (Babs) both of Columbus, GA and Marc Harris (Tammy) of Hamilton, GA; several grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
