Denise Washington

Denise Washington, 69, of Columbus, GA, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Neil Washington and Lutelle Washington Lilley. She graduated from Pantego High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Winston-Salem State University. Denise was the owner of Jazzy’s Daycare in Winston-Salem, NC, where she cared for and educated children for over 20 years. Her wonderful legacy is written on the hearts of every child she lovingly taught. 

She is survived by her siblings, Lorraine Washington (Keith Wagner) of Brooklyn, NY, and Neil (Carolyn) Washington of Lauder Hill, FL; niece Markeeta Washington; nephews Harrison Washington and Marcus Washington; uncles Welton (Cora) Jones, Bernell Jones, and Arnell Jones; special cousin Thomasine (Henry) Johnson; loving friends Edna (John) Foster and Barbara Simmons, her Godchildren, Stephan and Jasmine Simmons, her Friendship Baptist Church Sunday School Class and a host of other relatives and friends.
