Doris M. Murphy, 83, of Columbus, GA died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Piedmont Northside Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Mike Stevens officiating. Interment will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Murphy was born June 14, 1935 in Laurinburg, NC daughter of the late Dan McKenzie and Annie Hayes McKenzie. She worked managing apartments, and she loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Murphy.
Survivors include her daughter, Terry Stevens of Columbus, GA, son, A.P. Murphy (Christy) of Hardeeville, SC, brother, J.W. McKenzie of NC, sister, Margie Cooner Waller of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Crystal Stone, Kimberly Greene (Jonathan), Candy Messer (David), Andy Murphy (Dana), Katie Murphy, Taylor Murphy and Danielle Hogue, great-grandchildren, James Capps (Kelsey), Jeffrey Vaughan, Brianna Stone, Hailey Stone, Ashley Greene, Shelly Warren and Korbyn Murphy, great great-grandchildren, Emori Capps Clayton, Lexi Fish-Mehaffey and Lilly Capps, and favorite companion, "DeeDee".
